About the Vitamin D Council
The Vitamin D Council was founded in 2003 by John J. Cannell, MD, who observed that many patients in a maximum-security psychiatric hospital were vitamin D deficient. Over time, the Council grew to become a trusted global resource for evidence-based research, education, and guidance about vitamin D’s role in health.
Today, the Vitamin D Council site is powered by yippy®, which is building the world’s largest vitamin D community and knowledge hub. We bring together scientists, health professionals, and everyday readers to explore the latest in vitamin D science, share practical advice, and help clarify confusing or conflicting recommendations.
