UK sets recommendation for vitamin D supplementation

Due to research conducted by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN), the UK government recommends all individuals supplement with 10 mcg of vitamin D per day for muscular and skeletal health.

    Read some of the “comments” on this BBC article.
    Some of the comments (actually most of them) show how poorly informed the British public are about vitamin D, its source, RDA and its safety.

    It is appalling! We have similar ridiculous opinions in NZ, not only in the general public but also in many health/medical practitioners. However I blame the health authorities of the respective governments for this state of affairs

    That’s not a recommendation but a slap in the face to the people of the U.K. GOVERNMENT planned health care inspires diminished health. As usual, do your own research. What floors me is these recommendations never address ideal serum blood levels. Ridiculous !!!!

  3. 10 micrograms is only 400 IU. (40,000 IU is 1 mg,) So the article sounds like it is a reprint from 1960.
