Vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women: National cross-sectional study

While we know the incidence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy is very high from community-based studies, no one has ever studied an entire country to see what percentage of pregnant women is vitamin D deficient. No one until Dr. Stefanie Vandevijvere of the Scientific Institute of Public Health in Belgium and colleagues tested 1311 pregnant women all across Belgium between September 2010 and June of 2011.
