Harry the “scoop” is at http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/ under Vitamin A heading. I remember Dr. Cannel’s article but the above also is sanctioned by him. So the VDC’s official policy is a recommendation to not exceed the RDA and for you an adult male that is 3000 of retinol a day. Originally Dr. Cannell was worried about the amount of people that are ingesting huge amounts on a daily basis.
So I don’t think the article was correct but if you have any links to it feel free to post back.
There was actually someone that posted a Q and A question and had a severe medical issue and found, at least at the point they were at, that they had to take the preformed in order for the Vitamin D to work.

thanks so you think its ok to carry on with my multi giving 2500iu retinol, not sure now as i’ll get retinol through diet also, worst case scenario if did have morre than 3000iu retinol daily will it completely ruin all vitamin d benefits.

No Harry you are not going to ruin any vitamin d benefits!
Originally you said you did not want to stop the multi vitamin. There are multis that do not have retinol in. Are you “married” to the one you are taking?

The RDA for woman is no more than 2300 of Retinol a day. I am not a scientist or doctor. I think she will get benefit from the Vitamin D but she is still taking too much preformed A.
