    As the article states calcitriol or 1,25OHD and cholecalciferol (D3) or 25OHD are in a sense two different things. Cholecalciferol is the “raw material” that then gets turned into calcitriol.
    Calcitriol is “safe” (unless you have certain diseases) BUT it is always better to use “raw” material and let the “human body convert it”.
    Humans should take D3 (Cholecalciferol).
