I was prescribed Vitamin D 2,000,000 ul/100ml Ergocalciferol under the brand name Sterogyl. The leaflet inside was written in French so I just went by the instructions on the label of the box that my doctor printed out. It said to take 2.5ml every week for 8 weeks. When I took it, it BURNED horribly. I looked it up online and it says that the regular dose for treatment is 5-10 drops daily and that it should be mixed with water. I had just taken 150 drops straight! My question is… do you know why I was prescribed such a large dose once a week? Why can I not take a lower dose daily? I've now read that Vit D overdose is rare and it's usually only found after mega doses. Surely, it would be easier for my body to take and be more effective if I were to take small amounts daily rather than one giant dose a week. Is this normal? I'm feeling a bit sick now but I don't know whether that's to do with drinking 90% alcohol straight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
