I have arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and now hyperparathyroidism. I have been taking D3 gtts 3000ui for several years for the osteoporosis. However since diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism my specialist put me on Rocaltrol 0.25 mcg. After four days of calcium 1000 mgm and and the Rocaltrol two times a day, I felt horrible, although it brought my PTH level within normal range. I am having difficulty with my specialist over this matter as I would prefer to only take the non-pharmaceutical vitamin D3 drops but also find they vary in cost and their potency may be questionable. Any suggestions – my present PTH level is 8.3 while taking Rocaltrol every second day. Thanks

Can I ask what your PTH level was before taking the Rocaltrol? Did you ever try more than 3000 iu of Vitamin D a day before getting the hyperparathyroid diagnosis? Do you know what your 25 OHD level is?
My personal pet peeve is doctor’s that do not listen to their patients. I feel for you!
