I am Vitamin D deficient and my level is 12 ng/ml. I am taking 5000 IU dose of D3 daily. Would this be a sufficient dose? or should I go for a weekly dose of 50000 IU per week. Also, I am facing a problem of insomnia. Would a high dosage of D3 be responsible for this. Looking forward to hear from you. Regards Abhishek Kulkarni

Taking Vitamin D on a daily basis is better for you than weekly. The 5000 iu a day should get you to 50 ng/ml if you are of average height and weight. Recheck your levels in several months to make sure.
As for the insomnia I assume you are saying that before taking any Vitamin D you did not have this issue? If so then you are probably magnesium deficient. Vitamin D uses up a lot of magnesium. So the 5000 iu is not the problem, you need some magnesium. Please read http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/ it is very important. Do not get magnesium oxide because it does not work as well.
