I am trying to find the level of Vitamin D supplementation that is the most appropriate for me. Here is a look at my background and history. • AGE 75 ( Born) 1939) • At age 36- Malignant Melanoma – two major operations • At age 67 Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma • At age 67 paraneoplastic syndrome (polymyositis &chronic demyelinating polyneuropathy). I was confined to a wheelchair but did well after 7 weeks of rehabilitation at at GF Strong in Vancouver BC • By age 36 I was in my second career and by he time I got lymphoma in 2006 I was well established as an owner operator of a commercial farming ( poultry) • NOTE: I was as proactive as I could be in dealing with my medical issues but I found that my background in nutrition and experience with animals led to more questions than answers. • MY STATUS TODAY; I continue to do well as long as I stay with a routine of stretches and exercise and am disciplined in my food choices. The big question I have now is- how much Vitamin D should I be taking. Prior to an appointment with my Ophthalmologist on April 5 2015, I had been taking 15000 IU (D3 Chlolecalciferol per day and hadn’t felt better in along time (for the record I had watched Dr. Sears webinar presentation on Vitamin D). The Ophalomogist was alarmed by the level of calcium deposits in my eyes and made a strong recommendation that I cut back on Vitamin D because of its association with calcium metabolism.. I have reduced my Vitamin D intake to 1000 units per day. Any feed back re advice or insights especially as it pertain to dry eye (calcium deposits and vitamin d levels would appreciate!
