Hi Batkol,
That’s a great question! Unfortunately, there is no clear cut answer. Osteoporosis is a complex condition. Although it is clear that vitamin D deficiency is an important modifiable risk factor for this condition, there are several other factors contribute to the development of osteoporosis.
However, we do know that vitamin D status affects calcium balance, which impacts bone metabolism. Since bone mass begins to decline around the age of 30, I think it’s important to note when the person first became vitamin D deficient when trying to evaluate this relationship. Nevertheless, research has shown that maintaining healthy vitamin D levels may slow the progression of osteoporosis.
To learn more about the relationship between vitamin D and osteoporosis, I highly recommend reading our Health Condition:

I hope this helps!
