Hi I was diagnosed with a severe vitamin d deficiency, it was non traceable in my bloods.this was two weeks ago I take 40000 iu a week. I was getting pain in hips shoulders legs hands and feet, I'm so tired all the time, the pain seems to be getting worse and constantly wakes me at night. Does anyone know how long this lasts, and how long before my levels will rise. Thanks

It may be several months until you start to feel better. Someone should probably check your levels in a month to make sure that they are increasing. If they are not then you may have to increase your amount of Vitamin D. You should be aiming for a level of 50ng/ml or slightly higher. Taking Vitamin D once a week is OK but taking it daily is better. That would mean 40000/ 7 days = 6000 iu a day. Never take less than 5000iu a day or your levels will decrease again.
You can always come back and ask for more advice. Hope you feel better soon!! It is also very important to read http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/.
