Hello I would like to ask that I have found 200,000IU of Vit D stat tablets abroad and a friend has a level of 15 and otherwise healthy he is wondering if it would be safe to take and would it need to be repeated many thanks

    Sabhatti,

    We generally say that the most vitamin D you want to take in a day, that is the safe upper limit, is 10,000 IU/day.

    Furthermore, most healthy adults need 5,000 IU/day to raise and maintain levels in the healthy range.

    If your friend has very low levels and is looking to take a very high dose such as 200,000 IU, then the best thing to do would be to see a doctor and first gain insight from him/her based on your friend’s medical history and then find a dose that is safe, effective and monitored under the supervision of his doctor.

    Is it safe to assume that you cannot get any Vitamin D3 in a lower amount in the country you or he comes from?
