Hello, I have recently learned that I am deficient in vitamin d. (13) I have never been tested before. I am very concerned as I have been having many medical problems for the last 5 years to the point i am currently on disability. Many of my problems are vague and seemingly unrelated. I have to wonder how much and how long this has been affecting me. What is the recommended dosage for vitamin d3 when trying to elevate my levels? And how long does it typically take to get back on track?

At your level you may want to take the upper safe limit of 10,000 iu of D3 per day. (This is based on an average person weighing 150 lbs so if you weigh a lot more, you may have to take more.) After you are well than you may be able to go to a “maintenance dosage”. You also need to read http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/. You need to pay close attention to magnesium requirements and do NOT get magnesium oxide. If you are deficient in magnesium and add the Vitamin D you might add even more symptoms then you already have. It will probably take several months to increase your levels. How long till you start feeling better may take a while.
    Any more questions, please ask.
If you have the time you could come back and give us information as to how long it took for you to feel better and any and all symptoms that got better or disappeared. I can then pass that information onto the next person that asks!
