CURED of Fibromylgia 8 years ago! In reference to: http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/health-conditions/fibromyalgia/ – I find it REALLY SAD that research falls short on either the amount of Vitamin D supplemented and/or the amount of time supplemented in their so-called research. I had "Fibromyalgia for 19 years. PAIN – years of PAIN! Multiple doctors including a rheumatologist diagnosed me with "Fibromyalgia". Yes, I had pain in more than 11 of the trigger/tender points. I fully believe there is a cause for every health condition and it isn't a lack of prescription drugs. I went on a quest to find the cause. With the help of a very cooperative doctor I had my blood tested (in March of 2007) and I was found to be severely Vitamin D deficient (11 ng/mL). I started taking Vitamin D in higher doses until I reached about 60 ng/mL. I then took 4000 IU each day FOREVER (because I am not outside every day – midday – with my skin exposed and I don't live next to the equator). Approximately 10 months later I was COMPLETELY FREE OF PAIN (not in 8 weeks). I noticed a continual improvement of symptoms during this time (starting at 3 or 4 months, I think). Just because your blood level reaches an optimal level of say 50 or 60 ng/mL, this doesn't mean that your body is going to magically heal/repair in one minute. It takes time! What is Fibromyalgia "Syndrome"? Fibromyalgia = widespread muscle and joint pain, fatigue, and other symptoms. Syndrome = set of symptoms. Not disease – SYMPTOMS! The cause – no one seems to know. The "drug" companies – they all have their "money-making" ideas – the commercials make me SAD – they are treating the symptoms – not the cause – and getting RICH from it. Well – for me – I NEVER HAD FIBROMYALGIA – I had a severe Vitamin D deficiency. Goodbye Fibromaylgia! Goodbye PAIN! PAIN FREE for 8 years! There is nothing worse than reading about research (done over 8 weeks or with a dose of Vitamin D that is way too low) that says it doesn't help or CURE Fibromyalgia. There is nothing worse than the Food and Nutrition Board establishing the "NEW" RDA of 600 IU/day (wake up Food and Nutrition Board). It is also a HUGE joke when materials/websites list the foods that you can get your Vitamin D from. BIG JOKE at the expense of millions of people suffering in pain. Hopefully, I have helped at least one person by posting this. Hopefully at least one person will put an end to their misery, pain, and exhaustion. By the way, I forgot to mention, an unexpected bonus was an end to my life-long eczema (which had been infected most of the time).
