Study finds potential new mechanism for vitamin D’s role in brain health

New research published in Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease suggests a new anti-inflammatory mechanism for vitamin D in the brain.

There are many factors that contribute to overall brain health. Researchers are increasingly finding that vitamin D plays a role in many of these factors. For example, vitamin D has been suggested to help prevent neurons from becoming tangled, which is commonly seen in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

The complexity of the brain means that research on vitamin D needs to look at all of the intricacies in order to understand the full role for vitamin D in mental health and the brain.
