Reply To: I am a 45 year old white female living in Pennsylvania. I have had issues with depressed mood and hand joint swelling that has been previously diagnosed as palindromic rheumatism. About 8 years ago, I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency in the spring and was able to recover my symptoms of joint aches in about 1-2 months with sun exposure.
After being lax on taking replacement, I have again been diagnosed with a level of 29 ng/ml in December. I have been on vitamin d 3 at 5000 U daily for 10 weeks. The depression symptoms cleared quickly in 3-4 weeks, but the joint aches and swelling continue to come and go. I am hoping for a goal of 50 ng/ml.
Two questions…When is the best time to recheck a level? and how long can it typically take for the joint aches and swelling to resolve?
