Hi…after feeling dreadful, tired, achey & gaining weight being the main symptoms I found out I am vitamin D deficient. I tried dieting this last fortnight losing 4 pound but weighed myself this morning to see ive gone back to where I started. Ive read it's hard to lose when deficient…anyone else having weight issues too? Thanks Jo

Others have said that before being diagnosed with a D deficiency, that they had gained weight. It does not surprise me. The next problem is, as you gain weight, vitamin D “dilutes” and you need to take even more to get the correct benefits.
So the minimum amount of Vitamin D you should be taking is 5000iu a day. Your goal is a minimum blood level of 50ng/ml (125nmol/l) If very deficient you should be taking a lot more. If you weigh more than 150lbs you should be taking more.
