Hello – I would like to know if it is necessary to take the D vitamin every day when you have reached the wanted level since D vitamin level takes approx 3 weeks to drop to half level? I'm taking D vitamin (50 microgram or 2000 IU) supplements on a daily basis as I don't get much sun. But I was wondering whether it is enough to take the supplements for example once a week now? Thanks in advance

Well you said it above. Every “two” weeks the level drops and it is a “cumulative” type of effect. So NO you have to continue taking it everyday, Having said that we recommend you maintain a “healthy” level of a minimum of 50ng/ml and it usually takes 5000iu a day to do that and you only take 2000iu. So did you reach a level of 50ng/ml or 125nmol/l? Having said that we highly recommend taking it daily because that is a more “natural way”. If you wanted though you could take it once a week BUT you would have to take either 2000iu times 7 days or 14,000iu once a week . If taking the 5000iu a day then 35,000iu once a week. We DO NOT recommend taking larger amounts, on for example, a “once a month basis”.
