International conference on vitamin D to be held in Norway in April, 2014

Posted on: November 11, 2013   by  Vitamin D Council

Yet another vitamin D conference is set to take place, this time in Oslo, Norway.

The conference, titled “Vitamin D, Sun and Human Health,” will be held on April 28th and 29th 2014, at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel in Oslo.

The conference will provide the latest scientific news and research on all things related to vitamin D. This includes deficiency, supplementation, sun exposure, and health benefits of adequate vitamin D levels. The conference is mainly aimed for health professionals, medical doctors and researchers.

The conference has been organized by Professor Johan Moan and colleagues and already has several speakers lined up. Organizers recognize the expansion of vitamin D research in recent years.

Says Dr. Moan, “We hope to bring together researchers and medical doctors for scientific discussions, exchange of new ideas, establishing new collaborations for your future research, publishing and conference/seminar organization.”

Confirmed speakers at the conference include leading vitamin D researcher, Dr. Michael Holick, as well as William Grant, head of the Sunlight, Nutrition, and Health Research Center in San Francisco. Also presenting will be Dr. Reinhold Vieth of University of Toronto, Dr. Johan Moan of the Institute for Cancer Research at the Norwegian Radium Hospital, and many more.

Organizers are currently accepting proposals for presentations at the conference. In addition, they invite all attendees to submit an abstract to publish in a special edition of Dermato-Endocrinology, on vitamin D, sun and health. Abstracts must be original, unpublished work.

I find it really uplifting to know that there are medical people who are truly interested in learning about the benefits of vitamin d, and how the sun can improve our health. It is such a downer to see the reaction when attempting to engage an oncologist in a conversation about vitamin d. Very sad!

@jack–it is uplifting to read of these conferences. I wish these researchers and physicians much success. They are all to be commended for their excellent work on a still very controversial medical issue. They are all heroes in my opinion.
