Based on the studies that found reduced prevalence of depression at higher serum 25(OH)D levels discussed in the previous section, it appears that vitamin D can reduce the risk of depression.
Based on studies of other diseases, levels above 30-40 ng/ml would be required for reasonable reduction in risk.
