There are no studies linking geographical variation of solar ultraviolet-B (UVB) doses to risk of depression.
Seasonal affective disorder is not discussed in this document as it seems to be related to circadian rhythms, melatonin, and photoperiodism rather than vitamin D1. (See the separate summary on seasonal affective disorder.)
However, those with depression may have an exacerbation of their illness in winter.
