Cognitive impairmentExposure to sunlight

There are no studies linking solar radiation to cognitive function; however, solar ultraviolet-B (UVB) is the primary source of vitamin D for most people.

On the other hand, the efficiency of production of vitamin D from UVB decreases dramatically with age1,  and older people, who are more likely to develop cognitive impairment, tend to spend less time out of doors than younger people.
