Grant to increase vitamin D awareness

Posted on: May 13, 2013   by  Vitamin D Council

Feeding for Life Foundation is offering a grant to fund projects that raise awareness for the importance of vitamin D and boost intake in pre-school children.

Pediatricians can apply for grants from £50 to £500 which would provide funding for healthcare professionals to develop or support existing programs encouraging vitamin D awareness. The grants are available to help bring awareness to supplementation, fortification of foods, and sun exposure to increase vitamin D levels of children under five.

Pinki Sahota, professor of nutrition and obesity at Leeds Metropolitan University and chair of the Feeding for Like Foundation, explains, “The local grants enable those working with the under-fives to provide practical, tailored support and education to improve vitamin D intake in their community.”
