VDC test kit slider
My wife with Hashimoto and the initiall D3 level of 21 ng/ml after 4 months of vit D3 supplementation, 5000 IU, have only 31 ng/ml after the second blood test. I have (her husband) initialii 23 ng/ml after 4 months with 5000 IU have 39 ng/ml. Generally we have wanted to achieve the level about 60 – 70 as it is advisable on this site. We are planing to but d3 10 000 IU however I wonder what could be the reason of such lower increase of d3 in my wife's blood ? Could someone please explain that to me, Is taking d3 with hashimoto patients advisable at all? Thank You

My theory is that the vitamin D might be making a lot of “repairs” so to speak. Therefore it is using the Vitamin D up as fast as you can swallow it. Never fear you will get there you just need to take a higher amount. Also keep in mind everyone has different needs.
Make sure you read and comply with the vitamins and minerals that go along with D, http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/.
Your wife’s Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disease and it is found that Vitamin D deficiency is the cause of autoimmune diseases. So it may take even a higher amount of vitamin d to increase her levels. She may even “cure” herself. So yes it is advisable and I would assume she has had no “ill affects” so far on the 5000iu. My brother “had” autoimmune Raynauld’s Syndrome. “Had” is the operative word. He lives in Colorado and takes 20,000 iu over the winter and then cuts back for the spring and summer. Try the 10,000iu and see where that gets your levels to. If too high then try an amount between 5000iu and 10,000iu. Best of luck and keep us informed!

Thank You for your answer. Yes, we have been taking Super – K vitamin from lef.org along with the magnesium 200 mg daily. Today we have started with 10 000 IU of d3. I will inform you about the results, but we will do it in about 4 months when a new bottle of d3 will finish 🙂
