VDC test kit slider
My 25 (OH) came back at 17. I am a fair, blue eyed petite New England woman 56 years just through menopause. I work outdoors as a mail carrier, but wear sunscreen on my face daily. This winter I was taking 1,000 D3 and 1250 fish oil although had stopped the d3 prior to my 2 weeks in sunny Florida. Two weeks after my return to the north, I had the blood test mentioned earlier. Doc recommends 800 of supplementation and retest in 3 months. I do have family history of heart problems though I am fine so far. My feeling is to supplement with 5,000 instead of the 800 recommended. Would like your input.

As you can see two weeks in sunny Florida and the 1000iu taken before that only got you to a level of 17 (ng/ml?). So no 800 iu is not going to do it. We recommend maintaining a minimum blood level of 50ng/ml and it will take most people of average height and weight taking 5000 iu a day to get there.
