I am confused as to what dosage to take. My doctor has recommended 2000mg a day for 6 weeks, then halve the dose. Unfortunately tablets seem to be sold in 5000 iu. Despite looking at various websites i am still confused, can you help please? Many thanks, Lyn

Here at the Vitamin D Council we promote a blood level of 50ng/ml. It takes average height and weight people 5000iu’s a day usually to reach that goal. So that is what we usually recommend. There is too many studies that already prove that blood levels below the 40-50 ng/ml range lead to health problems and disease.
Hope that helped! Recommended reading is http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/.
