I am a 52 year old male. I went to my doctor complaining of not feeling well and staying tired all the time. He checked my testosterone level and my vitamin D. My testosterone came back low (238) and my Vitamin D came back low (17). We have decided to not do anything with the testosterone for now. I am taking my vitamin D3 2000iu twice a day for now. How long should it take for me to start feeling a difference. Also what all kind of differences should I see?

    You gave me your level as 17 but did not say how it was measured either as ng/ml or nmol/l. This can make a big difference on how much you should take and how long till you feel better. If you live in the USA, it is measured as ng/ml. If you do not live in the USA please tell me and either give the measurement or tell me what country you live in.
    You are taking 4000iu a day total and we recommend a minimum 5000iu a day. Vitamin D is also based on weight. Therefore if you weigh a lot more (or less) than 150lbs, tell me. You do not have to split your dosage and can take it all at once with a meal or snack that has a little “fat in it”. This is for better absorption.
    Here at the VDC we promote having a “healthy” level of 50ng/ml. At levels below 40ng/ml and your risk for cancer and autoimmune disease increases “dramatically”.
    Very good “call” on not taking any testosterone right now. Low Vitamin D levels absolutely do cause low testosterone levels.
    I do not have enough information to answer the “how long till I feel better”. It depends on some of the answers to questions above. Also do you have any major health issues??
    You can expect increased testosterone levels, energy, better sleep if that’s an issue, improved muscle function and a “host” of other things. If you have any “specifics” besides those you already mentioned, let me know.
