I've been diagnosed with a vitamin d deficiency and am going to start taking 10000IU Solgar supplements daily. However, I've read a few alarming things saying that this is risky unless I also take Vitamin K2 MK-7. Please could you let me know your thoughts on this? Many thanks. Sarah

If you haven’t already please read http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-and-other-vitamins-and-minerals/. It is very important! (It talks about K there too!)
IF you do not have enough Vitamin K in your diet (there is more than one “K”), then you may risk moving calcium to soft tissues instead of your bones. So if you eat a lot of “greens” and things with Vitamin K in, then you should be OK. So Vitamin D helps you to absorb calcium which then Vitamin K will move some into your bones like it is suppose to.
Now you also have to take calcium and magnesium very seriously. This is because Vitamin D uses a lot of magnesium to process things and calcium for your bones and other things. So if your Vitamin D level is extremely low, it may look for a lot of calcium to repair bones and magnesium. If you go “low” in either one of these minerals, you will probably start to have symptoms. I will also warn you that either one of these measured in a blood test does NOT show a deficiency in your body stores or for processing. It only shows the 1% of the total that is found in the blood stream.
I have no problem with you taking the 10,000iu BUT if you get any symptoms, please return and tell me!
