Is there any research on the use of Vit. D on shingles. A month ago I was diagnosed with shingles by my doctor. The pain was extreme on the left side where the lesions were but also in the underlying muscle. I pierced 3 5,000 IU capsules and spread the vit. D over the lesions 2 times per day, in addition I took 15,000 IU's orally per day. In 3 days the pain subsided and the lesions dried up. In 5 days the underlying muscle pain disappeared. I have pictures that show the changes, my doctor couldn't believe what happened. I know an N of 1 does not make a study, but if this works on other people this, it would save them from a lot of misery. Let me know if you have any research on this. Thanks.

I could not find anything here but you can go to Henry’s website at http://www.vitamindwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page_id=1468.
My adult son woke up one day with a tiny patch about 1/2 inch by 3/4 inch. I sent him to the doctor (I suspected shingles) who said it was shingles. We normally take a lot of Vitamin D on a regular basis and I do not remember if I told him to take more or not. He did take the antiviral that the doctor prescribed and was better within 1 day like it never happened.
It would not surprise me, if Vitamin D has an affect!
