My doctor said that my Vitamin D level is low at 25. He prescribed Vitamin D3 50,000 IU three times a week. I read about adverse effects of taking such a high dose, so instead I've been taking 4000 IU daily. My sister and my daughter both have lower levels than I do and are only taking 2000 IU daily. I'm due for another blood test only 3 weeks after started taking the 4000 IU. Is this too soon to have another blood test? What are your thoughts of taking 50,000 IU three times a week?
If your level was measured as ng/ml and not nmol/l, this is what I think. (If measured as nmol/l, I would give you a different story.) Your level of 25ng/ml is low but really 50,000iu 3 times a week …

Muscle pain and vitamin d toxicity or deficiency? I know that lack of D is very bad for health especially make person potent to disease like MS. I was diagnosed with very low Vit D last sept so I started to took Vitamin D 10000 per week and often used other calcium supplement with MG and Zinc. I was ok after I got a very bad ass infectious disease so i went on many stomache antiacids and antibiotics. i felt crap loosing hair abit so i started again to take my vitamin D. it has been three months that i feel pain in my thigh muscle badly when i touch my skin it is like a lot of pea sized hard granules there. it freaked me out. i went to GI but since i dont have insurance he simply told it is an inflammation that i need to take naproxen twice per day for a while. now i am in dilemma if it is vit d toxicity that caused calcification under my skin or it is because lack of vitamins that my muscles are inflammed. i am so stressed out knowing that my symptoms could be related to many serious situations. is there a definite way to understand the source of problem? can toxicity of vit d cause such symotom on muscles?
It has been proven that Vitamin D does not cause kidney stones. In fact it helps prevent them.

I've began to supplement Vitamin d3&k2 combo. D3:3000IE / K2: 45ug. I felt great the first month, my sleep decreased like 2 hours in total by first day and i still felt energized, it further decreased 2 hours after a month and i felt tired, got insomnia for a while so i started use even more magnesium. 1600mg of magnesium citrate&lysin chelate= 486mg elemental, wasn't enough. So i used chloride magnesium and that saved my insomnia so i can fall asleep, that gives probably atleast 2000 elemental with my rub, an ounce gives 3262mg elemental magnesium!. I still have problems sleeping a whole night. I go to bed at 9 and waking up at 3 and are tired, thirsty and having a headache usually. I thought to myself that i got hypercalcemia due to my symptoms. I did use alot of calcium as supplement because i couldn't fall asleep without it either, so i guess my whole mineral supplies are unbalanced to say the least. I did however had no issues with supplements before i introduced vitamin d3 to my diet. Am i sensitive to the type of vitamin d3 in my supplement? Are there different vitamin d3 sources? Should i stick to a lower dose?
